Position Details
About the role:
The Manager is an integral member of a small team responsible for driving collaboration between health services
The role operates in a sensitive and time critical environment with many competing priorities. The successful candidate will be a skilled leader who thinks strategically and ensures effective delivery of products to meet divisional, departmental and whole-of-Victorian Government requirements. The candidate will also be flexible, have excellent communication skills, an ability to exercise sound judgement and operate with autonomy.
This role also requires that you will lead the development and delivery of reforms, with a strong focus on the hospital system. This includes supporting voluntary merger processes between health services and performance oversight of the new Local Health Service Networks – a key recommendation from the Health Services Plan.

Are you able to:
- Provide authoritative advice and develop innovative solutions to complex issues based on thorough research.
- Effectively manage projects, including milestones and timelines.
- Build good stakeholder relationships and share information both within and outside the department.
- Maintain accurate records, following legal and departmental guidelines.
- Monitor and report on issues, risks and trends and prepare reports, ministerial briefs, and Cabinet submissions. Present on these when required
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise
Qualifications - A tertiary qualification in fields related to health, politics or public administration would be desirable.
Specialist Expertise
Highly desirable:
- Comprehensive health system expertise: experience and understanding across health service policy, hospital operations and system management
- Public sector management: comprehensive understanding of the operation of government at all levels and demonstrated ability to lead and develop high performing employees.
