Position Details

About the role: 2 x Ongoing Roles - Full time 

The Senior Asset Officer, Engineering plays a key role in providing technical support function to the Asset Planning unit.

The role supports the planning, development and implementation of processes, systems, tools, and reporting to facilitate the delivery of best-practice asset planning and operational outcomes.

Additionally, the role will provide risk-based asset assessment and analysis of the existing and future needs.

  • Provide Technical guidance on asset / Engineering & Asset Management Operations
  • Open communication lines with internal / External stakeholders offering advice and guidences surround department programs and policies

About you:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of infrastructure and assets in health settings, asset management, and engineering maintenance, as well as the operational context of health agencies. They will possess the ability to influence others to optimise health infrastructure performance over the long term. Strong technical knowledge and analytical skills are essential, complemented by excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.

  • Provide high-quality engineering and asset management intelligence, authoritative advice, and sound technical recommendations on asset and infrastructure operational, maintenance and design issues.
  • Analyse and interrogate asset performance issues with strong focus on continuous improvement and uplifting asset planning and maintenance capabilities across the system.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders. Prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet, and agency submissions on complex matters.
  • Use highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Provide advice on processes and policies and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Seek out and implement innovative methods and technologies to enhance asset management outcomes. Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to health infrastructure and minor capital assets. Develop and implement risk management strategies to ensure assets are appropriate for service delivery objectives.

Furthermore, Successful candidates will be expected to have key knowledge of the following Qualifications/Specialist Expertise

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering or equivalent technical degree is required. 

Specialist Expertise

  • A strong understanding of the Australian health system, including operational or project experience in hospital facilities, engineering, or medical assets, will be strongly preferred.
