The Housing Division of the Department provides a dedicated portfolio focus on housing, and best-practice leadership for project delivery across housing and human services portfolios, including social housing initiatives.

About the role

In this newly created position, the Director, Private Partnerships will play a significant leadership role while developing and refining the strategy and approach for the acquisition of private market dwellings. This includes defining the investment criteria and the overall approach to engaging with a range of private-sector partners. The appointee will have responsibility for the overall budget, overseeing the request for proposal process, selection of partners, funding agreements and management of contracts. As part of the acquisition process, the appointee will also develop a portfolio of leased properties through the private market, and build productive partnerships with community housing providers and the homeless support sector. To achieve these outcomes, the appointee will manage key probity, financial and non-financial risks, and implement the operating and management agreements of private sector housing purchases. Advising at the Ministerial and Secretary level, the Director, Delivery will prepare detailed reports, including on the progress of acquisitions an any emerging issues.

About you

Tertiary qualified in property development, construction or a related field, you have demonstrated executive-level experience in either the private or public sectors leading and managing high-performing property acquisitions teams. You are a highly skilled negotiator with the ability to build strong client-centric relationships. You deliver commercial outcomes by promoting harmony, building trust and communicating in a transparent manner. An authentic leader, you inspire a sense of purpose, and provide context by clearly outlining organisational objectives and overall expectations. Your ability to focus on key outcomes is essential. Detailed knowledge, or a strong working relationship within, the Victorian Public Service, particularly with the Department of Health and Human Service, Department of Treasury and Finance and the Department of Environment, Water and Planning would be advantageous. You relish the opportunity to make a long-term impact through the work being undertaken by the Housing Division in the delivery of a significant social outcome for all Victorians.
