Position Summary:


The Assistant Director, Communications and Engagement is responsible for managing strategic communications, stakeholder and community engagement, media and event opportunities for a portfolio of projects in the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority (the Authority). This important role will also drive change and support the delivery of the Branch's vision, strategic objectives, KPIs and values.


The role is a key leadership position within the Authority's Communications and Engagement unit and is responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of effective and integrated communication and engagement strategies, standards and processes. The role reports directly to the Director of Communications and Engagement.


The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of innovative and comprehensive communications, stakeholder and community engagement strategies for a portfolio of major infrastructure projects. 


A key aspect of the role will be to ensure that teams work collaboratively where appropriate, sharing best practice and communication and engagement tools to maximise effectiveness and to ensure joined up and strategic messaging across multiple infrastructure projects.


The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong skills in managing a diverse set of senior stakeholders.  They will need to be a strategic individual who can effectively manage risk and create opportunity in leading the delivery of innovative, integrated communications, stakeholder and community engagement. They will also be open to new ideas and ways of working, and able to embrace innovative practices as part of improving communications effectiveness and Branch performance.


When required, and as agreed by the Director of Communications and Engagement, the successful applicant will provide leadership, surge support and team resources to other functions within the Branch to ensure effective communication and engagement services can be delivered during peak periods.
