Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Communications Services, the Head of Communications, Emergency Management will lead a team to develop, deliver and effectively evaluate integrated communications and media support for the department's emergency management function.

 

Working closely with the Communications Manager, Public Health, Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) and the Health Protection Branch, they will lead the development and implementation of integrated and innovative communications, media and stakeholder engagement strategies for emergency preparedness, response, relief and recovery, and the evaluation and reporting on their effectiveness; including overseeing the production and distribution of communications and media collateral and events.

 

The incumbent will display strong strategic capability as well as operational expertise. When required, the incumbent will provide leadership, surge support and resources to other policy portfolios to ensure effective communications services can be delivered by the Branch during emergency, crisis and peak periods.
