Position Summary:

Food Safety Officer

The key focus of the Food Safety Officer is to undertake food safety investigations through risk assessment and response work in order to facilitate the exercise of the powers of the Chief Health Officer under the Victorian Food Act 1984 and Public Health & Wellbeing Act 2008. A primary function is to respond to food-related notifications of anaphylaxis, under the newly implemented Victorian hospital anaphylaxis notification scheme; as well as food safety investigations and events including food recalls, (national) food incidents, complaints and laboratory notifications of pathogens in food.
