Position Summary:

Health Protection Officer – Water Unit

This position in the Water Unit sits within the Health Protection Branch of the Department of Health and Human Services. The Health Protection Officer is responsible for supporting administration of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008. With a focus on implementing the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019, the Health Protection Officer is responsible for developing an implementation strategy, providing guidance and support to local government and the aquatics industry to achieve compliance. The Health Protection Officer will provide support to the Community Risk and Prevention Team to minimise public health risks relating to recreational water, aquatic facilities and private drinking water in addition to provision of advice relating to water fluoridation.
