Position Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Senior Communications and Media Adviser (media focus) will deliver communications and media advice and assistance to stakeholders across the department and to ministers' offices. They will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and comprehensive communications and media strategies for major policies and projects, and the evaluation of these strategies.

The incumbent will work closely with branch colleagues, the minister's office and relevant business areas within the department to ensure that communication with stakeholders is clear, engaging and timely, and is clearly aligned to the department's strategic plan. They will collaborate with teams across the branch to create compelling communications and media products for a range of purposes and audiences, including speeches, media releases, media responses, fact sheets, newsletters, materials for online and social media, and communications campaigns.

They will work as a part of the wider Branch and collaborate with department executives and other senior staff, the minister's office, relevant policy and program areas, and key external stakeholders to ensure that communication is clear, engaging, timely, and aligned to the department's strategic priorities.

As appropriate, they may also be required to provide support to other teams across the Branch as and when required, including participating in out of hours media and emergency rosters, providing support for public emergencies, large-scale communications campaigns and other high priority projects, to contribute the effective management of work across the Branch and department.
