About Us:

The Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services (IRLS) group supports the Attorney-General, other DJCS Ministers and the department by providing legal, policy, integrity and assurance expertise. We work collaboratively with key entities across the justice and integrity system, and within the department to ensure our work is strategic, relevant, holistic and people centred.

About the Role:

The Legal Policy Officer role is situated in the Integrity Policy and Performance (IPP) business unit within the IRLS group. The Legal Policy Officer will work across all areas of IPP's responsibility.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Providing advice to the Attorney-General, senior departmental executives and senior officers on integrity policy, the operation of the integrity system and issues affecting Victorian integrity bodies, including in relation to budget, subordinate legislation and opportunities for legislative reform.
  • Undertaking research and developing evidence-based policy proposals, analysing and evaluating public policy options to improve the operation of the Victorian integrity system and deliver on government priorities.
  • Preparing or assisting in the preparation of cabinet submissions, Parliamentary documents, reports, briefing and options papers and correspondence for a variety of audiences.

About You:

As an ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of public policy processes, especially in relation to the integrity system or justice system (or skills and experience that will allow you to quickly acquire this knowledge).
  • Proven ability to consistently deliver high quality written and verbal advice.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification is highly desirable.
