About the Business Unit:

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria. 

The Finance and Procurement business unit provides department-wide financial, procurement and workplace services through strategic leadership and setting the direction, policy, and processes, and partnering with the department to build capability.

The Finance Branch leads the department's efforts to comply with government and legislative financial management responsibilities while driving a culture of strategic financial management across the department. It is responsible for the department's financial and budgetary policies and processes, including statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation compliance, government reporting (including Standing Directions), and facilitation of the annual budget process. 

About the Role:

The Manager, Financial Systems leads the strategic development, management, and support of the department's financial systems environment, encompassing a diverse range of corporate platforms and applications.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Strategising and managing the department's financial systems in line with business objectives
  • Ensuring system security, handling incidents and driving continuous improvements
  • Leading a team while fostering collaboration and integrated decision-making with stakeholders
  • Steering the rollout of innovative financial systems to enhance department capabilities.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Thorough contemporary knowledge of information management technologies and their application within a business context
  • A strong capability in implementing financial system solutions, including cloud-based data warehousing and integration, and to evaluate the effectiveness of these solutions and carry out adjustment actions as required
  • A wealth of experience in people management, including defining role expectations, monitoring performance, providing timely and constructive feedback and facilitating employee development
