Position Details
- The Department of Justice and Community Safety is looking for an experienced Team Leader
- Delivery of high-quality payroll services to employees, onboarding, temporary assignments, timesheets, and terminations
- VPS Grade 4: $97,955 - $111,142 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit
Payroll Services is a function within the People and Workplace Services group and is responsible for payroll services including taxation, superannuation, salary sacrifice, and processing of timesheets (manual and electronic) and the provision of advice to managers and employees. Accuracy and attention to detail is critical as are excellent communication and personal skills with strong customer focus.
About the Role
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Payroll Services, the Team Leader is responsible for the delivery of high-quality payroll services including the administration of pay and benefits for a portfolio of business units across the department.
Some of your duties will include:
- Assist in leading, motivating, supervising, including the management of the performance process of team members in the provision of a comprehensive customer focused payroll service to clients across the department
- Actively assist in ensuring a high standard is maintained and strict timelines are met in the team's delivery of human resource services
- Act as an escalation point for payroll officers and resolve complex operational payroll issues arising

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in:
- Human resource services and payroll, with an emphasis on remuneration packaging in a government environment
- CHRIS21 or other payroll systems
- High volume transactional payroll environment(s)
- Ability to interpret and provide advice on departmental policies and legislation.
Qualifications/Requirements
- A relevant qualification or working experience is highly desirable.
