About us

The Major Programs and Projects Office (MPPO) is a specialist centre of knowledge and expertise for the delivery of programs and projects. MPPO is a results-driven organisation responsible for planning, managing, delivering and supporting programs and projects on behalf of the department’s business units and statutory entities within the Justice and Regulation portfolio.

About the role

As the Senior Finance Officer, you will be responsible for providing informed financial advice and expertise to a wide variety of high-value and high-risk projects in a very busy project office. You will prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for senior management, the department, various major project committees and other stakeholders. In addition, you will monitor trends, issues and risks that are likely to impact MPPO's financials and, under direction, prepare ad hoc reports for MPPO, the department, and the Department of Treasury and Finance. 

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • demonstrated experience in finance and working knowledge of the application of government accounting and financial legislation, policies, processes and budget/reporting cycles, preferably within a state government environment (or similar)
  • a proven ability to analyse financial data for trends and issues, preferably within a state government environment (or similar)
  • excellent communication, interpersonal, organising and planning skills.
