About us

Technology Solutions (TS) is a business unit within the Corporate Governance and Support (CGaS) Division of Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) that provides reliable information and communications technology (ICT) to more than 10,000 staff across DJCS. TS supports the DJCS vision of ‘a justice and community safety system that works together to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria' through the effective management of technology innovation, value, risk and performance quality.

About the role

This position resides in the ICT Delivery Group within TS which has a shared responsibility for delivery, implementation and operation of initiatives, architectures, policies, projects, enterprise platforms, line of business applications, digital, cloud, middleware and infrastructure services in a multi-sourced environment. Reporting to the Business Intelligence Team Lead, primarily you will be responsible for:

  • Design and build solutions including Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, data models, reports, and security models, applying BI concepts and techniques in accordance with industry practices and standards.
  • Actively lead and participate in the ‘end-to-end' delivery of BI solutions from business requirements, solution design and build, testing and deployment.
  • Provide expert advice on development methodologies, coding standards, BI data warehousing tools, operating systems, databases, scripting languages and analytics packages.

Technical Skills

As an IT candidate, you will have:

  • Extensive, in-depth knowledge and experience in BI development using data warehousing tools, operating systems, databases, scripting languages and analytics packages, including Oracle Database, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting, Oracle BI Enterprise Edition, Oracle Data Integrator, Postgres, Tableau and Power BI.
  • Very strong understanding of scripting, design, and visualisation concepts supporting your application of these skills in solution design and build.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in design and build of multi-tier data warehouse architectures, and creative data visualisations.
