About us

The Department of Justice and Community Safety delivers high-quality services to Victorians and supports a safe, just, innovative and thriving Victoria.  Road Safety Camera Program Unit (RSCP) within the Police, Community Safety and Communications Group is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the Road Safety Camera (RSC) network (mobile and fixed), including monitoring of the camera systems operational status, ensuring compliance of systems with departmental standards and management of camera service providers for camera certification, testing and maintenance.

The RSCP business unit is responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of the Victorian Road Safety Camera network on behalf of the Victorian Government and Victoria Police.  These responsibilities include the monitoring of the camera systems operational status, ensuring compliance of systems with departmental standards and management of camera testing, certification and maintenance contractors as well as monitoring and assessing the performance of the RSC network.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Manager, OMT, the Operations Lead is primarily responsible for managing and having oversight of an operational team, providing expertise in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, testing and monitoring of ‘fixed' road safety camera systems; managing key processes to deliver the required outcomes, including stakeholder management and business process improvements.

The Lead is also required to ensure the team's effective and efficient operations in its compliance with legal, policy and procedural requirements and standards.  This includes ensuring the best possible allocation and performance of resources to ensure achievement of service delivery goals in their allocated stream of work.

This Lead role is expected to play a significant part in the development of a culture of continuous improvement and to ensure that continuous improvement is embedded into the team's business-as-usual activities.

About you

As our ideal candidate you will possess:

  • Experience in the management of assets in line with ISO 55000
  • Experience in the management and on-going development of major technical / program initiatives, encompassing the operations, maintenance and testing of complex technological road safety camera systems, preferably in a road/transport infrastructure setting and within a Government environment
  • Proven track record in the management of a major operational network, preferably within a Government environment
  • Experience in managing and overseeing a team
  • Strong ability to determine the source of a problem and find an effective solution in a timely manner
  • Ability to strategically monitor performance against objectives, anticipating and putting steps in place to mitigate potential issues/problems
