Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. About us

The Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV) is a business unit within the Regulation division within the Department of Justice and Regulation. The functions of the DBRV include assessment of applications, conciliation of disputes and technical building assessment, producing Records of Agreement and Dispute Resolution Orders and compliance investigations.

About the role

Reporting to the Client Services Manager, the team leader is critical to providing direct leadership that oversees effective dispute assessment and analysis, appropriate and timely case allocation, the initiation of a range of dispute resolution approaches, including conciliation and building assessments, to ensure high quality services are offered by DBDRV.

The team leader is responsible for providing expert technical advice and support to the Dispute Resolution Officers in the application of legislation and DBDRV policies and procedures from the commencement of cases through to closure.

In the role, you will:

  • manage a team of Dispute Resolution Officers to assess and conciliate domestic building disputes
  • provide expert technical advice and support to the team in the application of legislation, policies and procedures
  • oversee the resource allocation including caseloads, conciliations and distribution of complex matters
  • liaise with the Building Assessment Team to allocate building assessments to appropriate cases
  • provide expert advice, guidance and quality assurance.

There are 2 x ongoing and 1 x fixed term opportunities available.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • a working knowledge of relevant legislation and Acts including but not limited to the Building Legislation Amendment (Consumer Protection) Bill 2015
  • experience leading and managing operational teams
  • demonstrated experience in problem solving and be skilled in conflict management
  • a strong focus on service excellence and stakeholder management
  • strong conceptual and analytical ability with a focus on quality assurance.
