About the Business Unit:

The Victorian Legal Admissions Board is a statutory body which performs functions associated with the admission of lawyers in Victoria in accordance with the Legal Profession Uniform. Law Application Act 2014. Under an Instrument of Delegation, the Victorian Legal Admissions Board (VLAB) established the Victorian Legal Admissions Committee (VLAC) to assess applicants for admission in Victoria and to grant Compliance Certificates under s19 of the Uniform Law.

About the Role:

The Compliance Officer plays a pivotal role in administering applications for admission to practice law in Victoria. You will be expected to rotate through a range of responsibilities, based upon the needs of the Board. The role is full time ongoing, based in the Melbourne CBD working in a hybrid model with a starting position of 2 days WFH.

Some of your duties will include: 

  • Understand and interpret concepts, policies, rules and legislative requirements to applicants regarding requirements for admission to the legal profession in Victoria and provide quality assurance and continuous improvement to ensure best practice is maintained throughout the operations of the Board.
  • Work collaboratively to identify and implement improvements to operational procedures within the office and members of staff.
  • Pro-actively build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in the legal profession for the purposes of promoting the work of the Board including supervised workplace trainees, law firms, overseas applicants, academic institutions and education institutions.

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Have Salesforce CRM experience
  • Have web content management experience
  • Ability to manage social media channels such a X
  • Ability to work in and manage SharePoint sites
