Position Details

  • $98,000-$119,000 plus 9.5% superannuation, fixed term until 30 June 2020 (possible extension), CBD based.

The Victorian Government recently announced that a new independent body will be established to oversee a restorative engagement and redress scheme for victims of workplace sexual harassment, sex discrimination and sexual abuse at Victoria Police. The Scheme will provide counselling and support services to a broad range of personnel who suffered a wide range of workplace sexual harm.

The Scheme is attached to the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) within the Police Policy & Strategy business unit and will be organised into four key areas to support the core objectives of the Scheme.

As the Business Operations Manager, you will report to the Assistant Director, Corporate and Operations. You will work with minimal supervision and be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the unit and contributing to the ongoing planning, management and operational improvement of the unit's resources. You will be responsible for developing guidelines and procedures, championing change and communicating improvements across the unit and be across human resources, recruitment, financial and administrative processes.

You will also be sensitive to the complex and confidential nature of the high-value projects undertaken by the unit and have very strong planning and organisational skills, ability to set and meet deadlines and to liaise confidently and effectively with senior managers and staff across the Department, including external stakeholders. Polished communication skills, and the ability to both influence and build collaborative partnerships across the team will be critical in this role.

As our successful candidate, you will have:

  • experience working in an operational office management role in a multi-layered environment
  • a can-do happy and flexible attitude who is highly organised and process-focused
  • well-developed problem-solving skills
  • proficiency in the use of MS Office suite of products

Please note this is a fixed term opportunity until 30 June 2020 with possible extension.
