Position Details
- You will provide clear legal advice on complex public law matters.
- You will manage sensitive cases and legal work for government clients.
- You will work on important matters that affect Victoria and its people.
- You will build on your senior legal skills in public service.
- Ongoing, full-time role earning $116,413 - $140,849 per year, plus super.
What you will do
As Senior Legal Adviser, Public Law and Litigation, you will provide legal advice on complex government matters. You will manage sensitive legal work and support senior leaders across the department.
You will:
- provide clear and practical legal advice on public law and government matters
- manage complex and sensitive legal cases and advice with limited supervision
- research complex legal issues and apply strong statutory interpretation skills
- draft high-quality legal documents, reports, briefs and ministerial correspondence
- work closely with legal leaders and department teams to resolve important legal matters.
About you
You must be admitted, or eligible for admission, to practise as a legal practitioner in Victoria. You should have strong experience in public, administrative and human rights law.
You should also have:
- strong legal skills to analyse complex issues and develop accurate legal solutions
- senior legal experience providing advice on public, administrative and human rights law
- government knowledge including Victorian Government and Cabinet processes
- sound judgement and communication skills when managing sensitive matters and working with others.
