Position Details

About us

The Stakeholder Engagement and Inclusion Unit (SEIU) within the Service Delivery Reform, Coordination and Workplace Safety Group is a newly amalgamated unit. This unit will play a critical role in building the Department of Justice and Community Safety's (DJCS) capacity to engage with stakeholders and drive an inclusion agenda. The SEIU will work to ensure that inclusion and intersectionality are at the heart of the justice reform agenda.

About the role

Two exceptional Policy and Project Officer positions exist to support the Engagement Capability team and the Secretariat and Governance team to deliver on the Stakeholder Engagement and Inclusion unit's objectives. In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the development of complex research, analysis of complex policy development and delivery issues and risks 
  • Pro-actively identify, build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders 
  • Provide a range of specialist administrative support activities for the project team including preparing reports, scheduling meetings and catering requirements, organisation of meeting documents and minute taking/distribution, data entry, and records management 
  • Support the preparation and draft discussion papers, reports and presentations for key external stakeholders and governance forums on complex and sensitive issues. 

In addition, you will:

  • Contribute to and support a consistent and coherent engagement and inclusion approach across the department
  • Operate as an internal consultant across the department to advise and manage stakeholder engagement projects
  • Support the team to develop, implement, and maintain efficient project administration systems and processes including document tracking and control and proactively creating and implementing new systems to streamline processes.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare well-written, timely, concise, accurate and audience-appropriate briefings and reports
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills with a particular ability to analyse complex policy and program issues
  • Sound understanding of project management and associated tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in providing high level executive support and/or complex administrative services.

A relevant qualification from a recognised tertiary institution is desired.
