Position Details

About us

The Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) is an independent statutory office accountable to the Victorian Parliament which has been established to protect the rights and enhance the position of people with disabilities in Victoria.

About the role

Advocate guardians act under delegation from the Public Advocate as guardians of last resort, and undertake advocacy on behalf of people with a disability.

3 positions are available. One full-time, ongoing role and 2 full-time, fixed-term roles for 12 months.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • demonstrated knowledge and experience of the Victorian human services sector, particularly disability, mental illness and aged care service systems
  • an understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and the intersection with guardianship
  • knowledge interpreting and applying OPA policy framework and providing advice to others. Experience providing high-level expertise dealing with issues that are more complex in the advocacy and guardianship environment.
