Position Details

Creating careers for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

Are you interested in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander jobseekers and staff?

The Aboriginal Employment Team (AET) within the Department of Justice and Community Safety coordinates a range of Aboriginal specific employment and career development programs including, the Aboriginal Tertiary Scholarship program, the Aboriginal Youth Employment Scheme (YES) traineeship program, the Aboriginal Career Development Program, and the Aboriginal Graduate Scheme.

In addition to the above, the Aboriginal Employment Programs Advisor is also responsible for coordinating Aboriginal staff networks in both metropolitan and regional locations to support the retention and career development of the department's Aboriginal employees.

The Aboriginal Employment Programs Advisor will also contribute to a range of recruitment activities including regular participation on selection panels and community information sessions, promoting the organisation as an employer of choice for Aboriginal jobseekers.

Practical experience in community development/project management or employment related programs is required for this role, as well as a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community.

This role involves occasional travel within Victoria.
