Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. Any above base requests require sign off by an executive delegate and will be by exception only or where required to match the current salary of Victorian Public Service staff transferring at level.

About us

The Victorian Law Reform Commission, established by the Victorian Law Reform Commission Act 2000, is an independent, government-funded organisation, and the peak law reform body in Victoria.

The Commission's major responsibility is to undertake research and make recommendations on issues that are referred to the Commission by the Attorney-General.

The Commission is committed to considered, timely, effective and inclusive law reform processes that give all members of the community the opportunity to express their views on areas of law that affect them.

About the role

Working for the Commission's Chairperson, as the Executive and Administrative Assistant, you will:

  • provide high quality executive administrative support and functions
  • provide legal research support
  • assist in preparing speeches and presentations for the Chair on law reform issues
  • manage the Chair's calendar and arrange travel and accommodation, as required
  • assist in the accurate and timely payment of accounts.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • have knowledge around the law reform process and the machinery of Government
  • have a good understanding of legal terminology and of the legal system within Victoria
  • be able to work after hours work in times of peak demand
  • be prepared to undergo a Criminal Record Check
  • have well developed interpersonal, communication, organisational skills and legal research skills.
