Position Details
- Utilise your expertise in Policy to provide support and advice to the Integrity Policy Performance and Major Crime branch
- One Ongoing, Full-Time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service
- VPS Grade 5: $106,534 - $128,897 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit:
Integrity Policy and Performance (IPP) is a business unit within the Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety. IPP is responsible for:
- Supporting the Attorney-General in her role as the Minister responsible for Victoria's integrity system and as First Law Officer.
- Leading the development of policy and legislative reforms affecting Victoria's integrity system, including in relation to public sector corruption and misconduct, police oversight, legal profession regulation, information privacy, freedom of information and judicial complaints.
- Providing whole-of-Victorian-government policy leadership on integrity, privacy and information sharing issues.
- Providing advice on the exercise of the Attorney-General's First Law Officer functions including petitions for mercy, interjurisdictional prisoner transfers and vexatious litigants.
- Providing departmental support for the operation of key integrity bodies including: the Victorian Inspectorate, the Independent Broad-Based Anti-Corruption Commission, the Victorian Ombudsman, the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner, the Public Interest Monitor, the Local Government Inspectorate, the Judicial Commission of Victoria and the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner.
About the Role:
The Senior Legal Policy Officer will work across all areas of IPP's responsibility.
Some of your duties will include:
- Providing authoritative advice to the Attorney-General and departmental executives on operational issues affecting Victorian integrity agencies, including in relation to budget, subordinate legislation and legislative reform
- Identifying, developing and implementing legal policy proposals and legislative reform relating to key issues affecting the Victorian integrity system
- Managing designated projects, undertaking research and developing evidence-based policy proposals, analysing and evaluating policy options to improve the operation of the Victorian integrity system and deliver on government priorities.

- A strong ability to adopt an innovative, strategic and solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- A strong expertise in consistently delivering high quality written and verbal advice, effectively analysing complex issues.
- A high capacity to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications/Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in law or relevant discipline is highly desirable.
