  • Fixed, Full-Time opportunity (Parental Leave backfill until 01/06/2026).
  • VPS Grade 6: $138,631 - $185,518 plus superannuation.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Manager, Coordination and Governance to provide a critical role within Group Services and Coordination.

About the Business Unit

The Group Services and Coordination division leads the Corrections and Justice Services group interface with our departmental corporate colleagues, group performance and coordination services. This division has responsibility for performance analysis and reporting, data monitoring and support, finance, technology, group services and innovation. The Group Services and Coordination division also has responsibility for coordination activities which have group wide impacts including responding to parliamentary requests, quarterly reporting, and will ensure that corporate service deliverables are met.

About the Role

The Senior Manager, Coordination and Governance manages the Coordination and Governance team and functions which have group wide impacts, including responding to parliamentary requests, quarterly reporting, internal communications, and knowledge management services.

The Senior Manager, Coordination and Governance also plays a key role supporting the Executive Director to lead and manage priority initiatives, provide strategic advice, establish effective process and governance mechanisms, manage key stakeholder relationships, and improve collaboration and innovation across the Corrections and Justice Services group and the department.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Manage the Coordination and Governance team and functions which have group wide impacts.
  • Coordinate and provide high-level authoritative advice and quality control to the Executive Director on complex and sensitive matters.
  • Conduct strategic and policy analysis to inform the development of policies and projects within the division, the group and the broader corrections portfolio.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience working at a senior level supporting government executives.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Detailed knowledge and awareness of the key issues impacting the corrections system, including policy, operations, and its stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated policy and project management capability, including the ability to achieve objectives within tight timeframes, and actively engage internal and external stakeholders.

 Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
