- VPS Grade 6: $138,631 - $185,518 plus superannuation
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Manager, Financial Strategy to provide a critical role within Finance and Procurement - Finance.
About the Business Unit
The Finance and Procurement business unit provides department-wide financial, procurement and workplace services through strategic leadership and setting the direction, policy and processes, and partnering with the department to build capability.
The Finance Branch leads the department's efforts to comply with government and legislative financial management responsibilities while driving a culture a strategic financial management across the department. It is responsible for the department's financial and budgetary policies and processes, including statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation compliance, government reporting (including Standing Directions), and facilitation of the annual budget process.
About the Role
Leading a team, the Manager, Financial Strategy reporting through the Director, Financial Strategy and Engagement drives the strategic financial management for the department, including the implementation of savings and efficiencies, while building a culture of financial responsibility and accountability.
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide effective leadership in strategic budget and financial policy development and advice across the department.
- Lead the development of internal DJCS financial management policy and processes to create stronger budget and financial planning acumen across the department whilst identifying practical solutions to problems.
- Lead the development of regular and ad hoc technical financial reports at an advanced professional level for DJCS executives and other stakeholders.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in public sector policy and financial management
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and research skills with an aptitude for problem solving in the context of financial and budget resource management.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in finance is desirable.
