About Us:
Payroll Services is a function within the People, Safety and Culture group and is responsible for delivering payroll services including taxation, superannuation, salary sacrifice, processing of timesheets (manual and electronic) and the provision of advice to managers and employees. Accuracy and attention to detail is critical as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
About the Role:
Working in a team environment, Payroll Officer(s) are responsible for the delivery of high-quality payroll services to managers and employees encompassing the processing of pay and benefits for a portfolio of business units across the department and statutory entities. Other core functions that are facilitated by the Payroll Officer include departmental and whole-of-government projects and initiatives.
Payroll Officers are led by the Team Leaders in the processing and coordination of the department's fortnightly pay. A key component of the role is the provision of professional and accurate advice to managers and employees regarding their pay and benefits.
Some of your duties will include:
- Delivery of high-quality payroll services to employees
- Processing payroll transactions such as onboarding new employees, temporary assignments, timesheets, and terminations
- Providing professional and accurate advice to managers and employees

About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in human resource services and payroll, with an emphasis on remuneration packaging in a government environment.
- Experience and proficiency in the use of CHRIS21 or other payroll systems.
- Experience in high volume transactional payroll environment(s).
- Ability to interpret and provide advice on departmental policies and legislation.
Qualifications:
- A relevant qualification or working experience is highly desirable.
