Position Details

About us

The Honorary Justice Office (HJO) within the Department of Justice and Community Safety supports the functions of the cohort of volunteers who serve as honorary justices, which comprises the roles of bail justices and justices of the peace. Honorary justices provide essential justice services to the community.

The HJO oversees recruitment, appointment, training and support and quality assurance functions for honorary justices. The purpose of the HJO is to effectively support the delivery of accessible, high quality honorary justice services that meet community needs.

About the role

As the Recruitment, Development and Support Officer, you will:

  • develop strategies and undertake processes to attract, recruit, appoint, renew and develop volunteer honorary justices
  • ensure the ongoing development of specialised knowledge via appropriate delivery modes for the varied volunteer workforce demographic and geography
  • explore how to facilitate a proactive learning and development approach to practically support and provide advice to the specialised volunteer groups
  • develop and implement strategies to identify risks and provide the necessary support to ensure volunteers' safety and wellbeing.

This is a fixed-term role until June 2020, based at 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • community engagement experience, ideally with an appreciation of volunteer recruitment and development
  • experience in supporting the delivery of learning and development approaches
  • project management experience, with the ability to plan and organise tasks in order to deliver outcomes on time and on budget
  • strong stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills.

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or relevant tertiary qualification would also be highly regarded.
