Position Details

The Neighbourhood Justice Centre, Australia's only community justice centre, is seeking a dynamic, passionate and innovative leader. With excellent people skills and the ability to engage and develop positive stakeholder relationships across local community, the justice sector and social services organisations the General Manager will lead and manage this unique Centre.

About us

The Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) includes a multijurisdictional court and was established in 2007 as the first community justice centre in Australia with the charter of delivering a problem-solving approach to justice. The NJC court and the network of support services which surround it were established as a place-based innovative approach to the administration of justice within the City of Yarra in response to high rates of crime and disadvantage.

About the role

The responsibilities include: 

  • Developing effective partnerships between the NJC, the local community, government and justice agencies.
  • Lead strategic planning in a manner that identifies ongoing opportunities for innovation to ensure that the NJC remains a sector leader in the delivery of problem-solving, therapeutic jurisprudence, positive criminology and restorative justice.
  • Work with stakeholders within and external to the MCV to communicate the learnings and innovations of the NJC in order to contribute to CSV's change agenda for justice.

About you

  • Relevant experience in justice and/or public policy administration at a senior level
  • Proven operational experience including fiscal responsibility
  • Relevant qualification in law, social sciences, management or public administration, preferable to master's level.
