Position Details

About us

The Criminal Law Policy and Operations division delivers strong unified policy on criminal justice matters.

The Community Operations and Victim Support Agency is a business unit within Criminal Law Policy and Operations that is responsible for coordinating a whole of government approach to services for victims of crime and for representing the voice of victims within the Justice system.

The Data, Research, Evaluation and Analysis Team is responsible for data analysis and integrity and providing a robust evidence base for service delivery and policy development across the Community Operations & Victims Support Agency.

About the role

As the Senior Research and Evaluation Officer, you will work closely with the Manager to design and develop a research and evaluation program and will focus on data integrity, performance analysis, research and evaluation. In your role, you will:

  • plan, develop and lead projects designed to analyse complex policy issues and formulate policy options to address identified issues and analyse the effectiveness of the policy and initiatives
  • undertake complex research, investigations and evaluations to identify and resolve emerging issues and risks impacting on the achievement of key initiatives
  • contribute to the effective procurement and management of independent research and evaluation projects
  • deliver expert and authoritative advice options and solutions to highly complex and sensitive issues on the policy and strategic implications of major initiatives
  • actively collaborate across the Agency to facilitate ongoing innovations, partnerships and multidisciplinary approaches to service delivery.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • experience in monitoring and evaluation of programs and policy as well as research and analysis skills, including well developed technical expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • demonstrated expertise in the successful management of projects to achieve objectives and to do so within tight timeframes
  • current and detailed knowledge of the policy environment and operation of Government
  • demonstrated skills in the use of quantitative and qualitative data to inform policy development
  • strong stakeholder management with the ability to build and establish relationships.
