Position Details

Koori Programs and Initiatives (KPI) are based within Jurisdiction Services, in the Office of the Chief Executive and plays an instrumental role on behalf of Court Services Victoria as secretariat to the Victorian Justice Agreement –Aboriginal Justice Forum (AJF), engaging all of Court jurisdictions in a response to the Victorian Aboriginal over-representation within the criminal justice system 

KPI has been established to support cultural programs and policy development, to implement and evaluate programs across all jurisdictions of courts and tribunals to lend support in improving service models and data collection. The workload of KPI is part determined by actions arising from the AJF, directive from the Courts Koori Reference Group and the Koori Portfolio Committee, working to address key gaps and limitations across Court Services Victoria (CSV) that will reduce the over representation, for example improving data collection across all jurisdictions.  KPI provides cultural advice to the jurisdictions across a range of areas, particularly to the development and implementation of jurisdictional Koori Inclusion Action Plans (KIAP).  KPI oversees the Koori Employment Policy, performing a Koori Human Resource advisory role and is privy to sensitive information that must be managed with sensitivity and confidentiality. 

The Koori Project Advisor is responsible for supporting the manager to develop and implement a range of strategic initiatives that increase positive engagement with Victorian Koori communities and other stakeholders to deliver effective court initiatives. This includes providing advice and guidance to staff within Victoria's Courts and Tribunals about working and consulting with the Koori Community, key project include the development and implementation of the Cultural debriefing model, data collections monitoring ,secretariat to key committees and cultural support to Koori initiatives across CSV.KPI is currently supporting Courts and Tribunals to establish initiatives for AJA 4 with a primary focus on business planning and funding bids – an instrumental part of this role is engagement with the Koori community and therefore required occasional statewide travel.
