Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. Any above base requests require sign off by an executive delegate and will be by exception only or where required to match the current salary of Victorian Public Service staff transferring at level.

About us

Ministerial Services is part of the Office of the Secretary and supports the Justice and Regulation Ministers to help meet their responsibilities to the Governor in Council and Parliament and Cabinet and in relation to statutory authorities in their portfolios.

About the role

As Department Liaison Officer for the Attorney-General, you will facilitate good communication between the Office and the Department. You will provide assistance as required to the Minister and/or Chief of Staff on matters strictly related to the efficient functioning of the Office in relation to the Department. Key responsibilities of the role include assisting the Office to efficiently and appropriately handle correspondence, coordinate the briefing process and appropriately channel information between the Office and the Department.  

Two fixed-term, 12 month roles are available.

After‐hours work may be required, especially during Parliamentary sittings and at other times of peak demand.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • demonstrated knowledge of or familiarity with current parliamentary, cabinet and legislative processes
  • demonstrated knowledge of or familiarity with Department of Justice and Regulation core business including its processes and procedures
  • demonstrated knowledge and awareness of best practice in other jurisdictions and at the local level.
