Position Details

  • Lead reviews that help improve Victoria's justice system.
  • Investigate complex incidents and uncover opportunities for change.
  • Work on meaningful issues that impact safety, wellbeing and accountability.
  • Build your expertise in reviews, analysis and evidence-based reporting.
  • Fixed-term, full-time role until 30th June 2027, earning $116,413 - $140,849 per year, plus super.

What you will do

As senior review officer, you will lead reviews into deaths and critical incidents across Victoria's correctional and youth justice systems.

You will assess complex information and provide clear findings that support safer services and better outcomes.

You will:

  • lead complex reviews into deaths, major incidents and systemic issues
  • prepare high-quality reports, briefings and correspondence for senior decision-makers
  • analyse complex information to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • provide evidence-based recommendations that strengthen correctional and youth justice services
  • build strong working relationships and support review activities across a range of justice settings.

About you

A recognised and relevant tertiary qualification is desirable but not required.

Experience in the criminal justice system is desirable, particularly in youth justice or corrections.

You should also have:

  • strong analytical writing and briefing skills
  • the ability to assess complex information and solve problems
  • excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • the resilience to work with challenging and sensitive material.
