About us

The Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) is an independent statutory agency that aims to uphold and protect the rights and interests of people with a disability in Victoria and work to eliminate abuse, neglect and exploitation. OPA manages key programs to support its mission; guardianship and individual advocacy, provision of community advice, communications and community education, policy research and systemic advocacy and three volunteer programs - Community Visitors, Independent Third Person and Community Guardians.

About the role

As the Administrative Support Officer, you will provide procurement, accounts payable and accounts receivable services using the Oracle accounting system, human resources services and a range of administrative services. As part of the role, you will:

  • prepare and submit requests to the delegated financial authority and assist financial delegates to resolve issues that may arise
  • assist in running monthly financial reports
  • process corporate invoices and ensure all invoices are forwarded, as appropriate, in a timely manner
  • undertake general administrative functions for the OPA.

Please note this position is a fixed tem until August 31, 2019.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • appropriate knowledge of and experience in providing human resources, administrative and financial office support services
  • demonstrated competencies in the use of Microsoft Office Products, TRIM and Lotus Notes
  • ability to quickly learn functions within the Oracle accounting system
  • excellent planning and organising skills with commitment and drive to meet customer needs.
