Risk and Emergency Management Coordinator, Security and Intelligence Division, Security Standards Unit

An exciting opportunity exists for a Risk and Emergency Management Coordinator on a full-time ongoing basis, in Security and Intelligence at Corrections Victoria.

About us

The Security and Intelligence Division is responsible for the acquittal of a number of key strategic functions including risk management, security and emergency management, exercising plans and contingencies and Intelligence. To deliver its responsibilities, the Security and Intelligence Division is divided into two independent but complementary functions: Security and Intelligence.

The Security Standards Unit is responsible for monitoring the minimum-security requirements for Maximum, Medium and Minimum Security Prisons on an annual basis, as well as ensuring that the standards are reviewed on a tri-annual basis. The unit also performs a number of risk and compliance functions, and is responsible for leading the development of Corrections Victoria's emergency management capability.

About the role

The Risk and Emergency Management Coordinator is a specialist position that works across the correctional system, performing security, risk and emergency management functions. They will provide advice on emerging risks and issues, perform research activities, and support prisons and Community Correctional Services in planning, training and exercising for emergencies.

The Risk and Emergency Management Coordinator will perform risk assessments, procedural security reviews, and provide feedback on the prison assessments against the standards, including physical requirements on security equipment and building structures.  The coordinator will ensure that locations have the appropriate mitigation strategies in place to reduce foreseeable risks.

About you

To be successful you will have:

  • Completed the Victorian Prison Officer Pre-service training
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in risk management standards and emergency management planning
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder needs.
