The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a manager, Finance & Risk to provide a critical role within Justice Services.

About the Business Unit

Justice Services is responsible for the direction, management, and operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS) across more than 35 locations. It ensures offenders are safely managed in the community and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

The South Area Network accounts for approximately 500 staff over 14 locations. The non-custodial locations are located at Bairnsdale, Cranbourne, Dandenong, Frankston, Lilydale, Morwell, Moorabbin, Pakenham, Ringwood, Rosebud, Sale, Warragul and Wonthaggi, with Dandenong and Morwell also being the Regional Offices. Wulgunggo Ngalu Learning Place, a residential program location, is based at Macks Creek near Yarram.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Corporate Services, the Manager Finance and Risk is responsible for leading and managing a small team in the effective delivery of a range of financial, accounting, budget, procurement, and risk management (including occupational health and safety) for the Area.

This position also monitors the financial performance of the area and provides advice on budget and finance and procurement and stores related matters.

This role is an Area role covering both Gippsland and South East Metropolitan regions and is fulltime.

As the Manager, Finance & Risk, some of your duties will include:

  • Managing and supervising a small team in the quality delivery of financial, budget and risk management services to the Area; plan and prioritise the team's workload and support their ongoing training and development.
  • Ensuring the delivery of financial and risk management services to meet corporate and program objectives, service delivery standards and timelines, specified budgetary outcomes, stakeholder expectations and location needs.
  • Providing authoritative and evidence-based advice to the senior managers to support the development of budgets, business planning, risk management (occupational health and safety), change and project activities.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in government finance, risk management and occupational health and safety.
  • Knowledge of government accounting and financial and occupational health and safety legislation, policies, and processes, preferably within a state government environment (or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of the financial systems such as Oracle and Axiom.

Qualifications

  • A qualification in a business discipline would be highly regarded.
  • A full Victorian driver's licence
