The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Analyst, to provide a critical role within Group Services and Coordination.
About the Business Unit
Group Services and Coordination (GSC) is the key partner connecting the Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, with DJCS corporate functions. We work closely with teams in Finance and Procurement, People, Safety, Culture and Communications, Technology Solutions and Data Security, Evidence and Insights, and Governance and Assurance to strategically support CJS service delivery across the justice and community safety system.
Within GSC, the Finance Operations stream leads CJS's central oversight and coordination of locally managed regional finance services in all public prisons and Justice Services locations.
About the Role
The Senior Analyst, reporting to the Manager, Finance Operations, plays a key supporting role in financial performance monitoring, planning and advisory activities across public prisons and regional justice services. The role involves extensive collaboration with internal stakeholders to inform operational decision-making, support departmental priorities, and contribute to group-wide financial initiatives and reform efforts.
This position also supports financial input into key government and departmental initiatives, by assisting with cost analysis, benefits tracking, and the coordination of finance data.
Some of your duties will include:
- Support oversight and coordination of the locally managed teams responsible for the delivery of finance and budget management in Public Prisons and Regional Justice Services.
- Assist in the preparation of briefings, dashboards, and reports to support senior leaders and reform initiatives.
- Contribute to budget planning, forecasting, and financial reporting in line with departmental standards and the Financial Management Act 1994.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated ability to develop, analyse, and evaluate budgets and financial reports, including the ability to critically evaluate cost drivers, savings and business improvement opportunities.
- Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills with an aptitude for problem solving in the context of public sector, financial and budget resource management.
- Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Detailed knowledge and awareness of the key issues impacting public sector policy and financial management.
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
