About us

The Crime Statistics Agency (CSA) is a business unit within the Department of Justice & Community Safety that receives crime data from Victoria Police and independently publishes crime statistics to assist law enforcement policy and improve public access to data.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Data Analyst, this role will be based in the Operations and Development team, whose primary focus is the editing, processing, dissemination and quality assurance of recorded crime data received from Victoria Police. As the Data Analyst, you will:

  • liaise between CSA and Victoria Police on day to day data quality issues
  • contribute to the continuous improvement of information technology solutions and data processing systems
  • support the delivery of value-added recorded crime outputs to be produced and published by the CSA, including analysis, research and evaluation of crime trends.

The position may require the successful applicant to obtain a negative vetting 1 security clearance.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • experience in statistical analysis and data management (especially in the crime and justice or comparable subject matter fields)
  • experience in the interpretation, presentation and communication of quantitative data to a range of audiences
  • experience in the use of recognised computer applications, including Excel, SQL and Tableau.
