Position Details

  • Policy and Project Officer (within Emergency Management)
  • Full time, Fixed term until 30 June 2025
  • Attractive VPS 4 salary between $ 95,102 - $107,905 + superannuation

Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities delivered through Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Sector Performance and Reform and emergency management statutory entities and offices. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.

The Business Unit – Entity Reform

Entity Reform branch works with Victoria's emergency services organisations, government agencies and key stakeholders to coordinate and deliver the government's reform agenda. Key functions of the branch include working with partner agencies to coordinate work programs across relevant reform initiatives to ensure effective implementation, and where required, delivering, or facilitating and contributing to the delivery of, defined work packages and products.

What will the role do?

Provide policy and project management advice and support on matters relating to Finance Reform, including:

  • Preparing high quality briefings, papers, reports and submissions.
  • Contributing to progress and status reporting of reform projects and activities.
  • Development and implementation of identified finance reform projects and activities.

What skills and knowledge should the Policy & Project Officer have?

  • Demonstrated project management/support experience, including the ability to achieve objectives within tight timeframes and in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of resource allocation, budget planning and financial management practices within Government.
  • Well-developed writing and communication skills will be well regarded.
  • A relevant qualification in public policy, project management or a related field is highly desirable.
