The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Audit, Reporting and Claims Analyst to provide a critical role within DJCS Emergency Management
About the Business Unit
Emergency Recovery Victoria (ERV) is responsible for state and regional coordination for all emergencies to help communities build back better and emerge stronger. ERV is a division within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Working directly with impacted communities, all levels of government, agencies and industry, ERV coordinates real, effective and timely support that communities need to recover after a major emergency. As well as providing strategic leadership on whole-of-government recovery activities and delivering state recovery outcomes, ERV supports locally led recovery efforts to support councils and ensure that community is at the centre of recovery.
About the Role
The Natural Disaster Financial Assistance (NDFA) team is responsible for the administration and assessment of Victoria's Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). The NDFA team also prepares the DRFA acquittal on behalf of the State of Victoria across all the DRFA financial assistance measures including the assurance and audits activities. The team works collaboratively across the sector to identify and implement process improvements to the DRFA to ensure the efficiency and adherence to the requirements.
Some of your duties will include:
- Contribute to the sound financial management of claims by leading the preparation of executive financial and performance reporting on the Natural Disaster Financial Assistance function to support decision making and continuous improvement.
- Manage and maintain workplace culture and practices that achieve ERVs strategic objectives
- Lead the Commonwealth reporting requirements including update of the estimates on a quarterly basis and other Commonwealth requests for information.
- Support the preparation of expenditure acquittals to the Commonwealth including undertaking desktop audit of claims throughout the year across the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) categories. Participate in the monitoring and compliance testing of key assurance controls.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Technical Expertise
- Working experience with data collection processes. Demonstrated ability to analyse information and data, identify outliers, predict trends and contribute to concise and accurate recommendations and reports.
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, attention to detail and undertaking key reconciliations.
- Skills and experience in actively managing external audit processes and reviews and conducting internal compliance reviews independently and objectively.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in a related discipline (such as accounting, reporting or data management) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel are desirable.
