Position Details

  • Utilise your administrative expertise to provide support and advice to Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct

  • Ongoing, Full-Time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service 

  • VPS Grade 2: $60,295 - $77,430 plus superannuation. 

About the business unit: 

A Records officer provides strong administrative support in handling sensitive Prison and Prisoner documentation, administrative and business support services. In the context of a prison, a Record Officer provides a range of corporate support services, within the unique operational environment of the correctional facility. In context the role requires a strong focus on customer service, teamwork, integrity, accuracy, compliance, and timelines. 

About the role:

The Property Officer is responsible for maintaining the prisoner property stores stock levels, safekeeping of prisoner's stored property, prisoner property requests, the prisoner's greens store and valuables register.  This position is an integral role in the transfer of prisoner's personal items between prison locations. 

Some of your duties will include: 

  • As part of the Records & Property team, and under supervision, provide high quality services and perform. all functions pertaining to prisoner records, Individual Management File (IMF) registry and prison archives at BSW prisons. 
  • Coordinate the preparation of all documentation relating to a prisoner's transfer, classification, release and court appearances and undertake operational processes associated with the prison's bails and discharges.  
  • Control and manage the daily operations of the Prisoners information into the PIMS and E*Justice Systems.

As our ideal candidate, you will possess: 

  • Well-developed computer skills. 
  • Ability to undertake inquiries, prepare reports, correspondence and statistical returns. 
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations.
