Position Details
- Lead a team that helps victims recover after violent crime.
- Shape a new financial assistance scheme that puts victims first.

- Fixed-term, full-time role until 30 June 2027 earning $116,413 to $140,849 per year, plus super.
What you will do
As FAS senior assessor, you will lead a team that assesses applications for financial assistance under the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme.
You will support consistent, fair and trauma-informed decisions while helping deliver a new service for victims of crime.
You will:
- assess complex applications and review decisions under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022
- prepare clear reasons for decisions and help improve assessment processes
- provide specialist advice to support victim recognition statements and application assessments
- guide and support assessors to deliver high-quality, timely and victim-centred decisions
- promote cultural safety, continuous improvement and respectful service for all applicants.
About you
A relevant tertiary qualification in community and social services, social policy, social work, law, public administration or a related field is desirable. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
You should also have:
- strong leadership experience managing complex assessment work
- sound knowledge of trauma-informed practice, family violence risk and culturally safe services
- excellent judgement, communication and decision-making skills
- proven ability to lead teams, improve processes and deliver fair outcomes.
