About Us

Investment and Technology is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for providing investment strategy and to deliver commercial and information technology services to drive high performance and improved commercial outcomes for the State.

The Enterprise Technology team, which is led by the CIO, provides IT services and technology for the Department of Transport, delivering Corporate and Enterprise wide capabilities. It performs a central role providing core data services, Cyber leadership, and documenting strategic directions for all of Department of Transport's Information technology and data.


About the Role

The Senior Technical Specialist - Hosting sits within Enterprise Technology and is responsible for providing ongoing support and management of Department of Transport's private hosting systems, infrastructure and platforms. The role will collaborate with several business stakeholders and the various DTP hosting service partners arrangements to address day to day maintenance, minor requests, incidents, and changes associated with the private hosting environments.


Key Accountabilities

Maintenance of Assets and Services – The Senior Technical Specialist - Hosting has a coordinating role to working with partner hosting providers and ensure private hosting assets and services have been proactively maintained to business expectations. This includes the effective maintenance of current state documentation and artefacts for private hosted services.

Service Delivery – The incumbent has the ability to collaborate with peer technical specialist and managed service partners for the fulfilment of requests, resolution of incidents, and defects according to agreed service levels.

Compliance – Operational compliance, policy and standards have been applied and maintained to the DOT Private hosting workloads.

Subject Matter Expert – Ability to provide related subject matter expertise consultancy to stakeholders across the Department.

Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

Relevant tertiary or industry qualification in information management, computer science, or a related field


Formal certification in ITIL practice

• Demonstrated experience in managing enterprise private hosting environments with partner managed service partners

• Experience in leading a small operational team and coordinating work requests



  • Represent the team on hosting related matters in ITIL forums such change advisory boards, major incident management and problem investigations.
  • Ensure all services are provisioned and maintained to optimum cost efficiency.
  • Lead day to day operational activities and service assurance across the DTP hosting managed service providers.
  • Identify and recommend any improvements to hosting services and report options to the Infrastructure Hosting Manager.
  • Develop and collate periodic reports for hosting services availability performance and service metrics for presentation to leadership team.
  • The role will require to be part of a rotating on call arrangement, integrated into DOT incident management response processes.
  • Assist an Infrastructure hosting Manager to ensure service consumed from Private cloud environments are Catalogued, costed and charged to the business areas accordingly.
