About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director-Asset Intelligence, the role of the Victorian Transport Digital Engineering Transformation Project Director is to lead all workstreams across the Digital Engineering (DE) Roadmap to progressively move to a digital environment for engineering, design, and data management.

About the Division

The Network Design and Integration Group within the Department of Transport is responsible for delivering transport priorities through developing, delivering, and maintaining an integrated pipeline of projects, supporting the Major Transport Infrastructure Program and planning Victoria's rail network.

Key Position Outcomes

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Effectively coordinate, lead, and implement all project activities, regardless of which project partner or stakeholder may be leading or resourcing any activity. This includes the development and implementation of long-term and short-term plans, goals, and objectives, including future business case funding submissions.
  • Provide effective project governance, reporting and risk management to the Department of Treasury and Finance, DE Project Control Board, and wider cross-agency stakeholders leveraging key stakeholder relationships to maximise mutual benefits and eliminate duplication with projects currently underway and future planned projects, such as OPV's Digital Build, DELWP's Digital Twin Victoria.

About You

You will need to demonstrate extensive experience with leadership, project governance, reporting, and risk management, which will be essential for you to effectively engage with a wide range of cross-agency stakeholders in this role. Additionally, you will possess:

  • In-depth working knowledge of multidiscipline transport infrastructure project lifecycle, from development through design, delivery and handover into operation and maintenance.
  • Strong ability to communicate, influence, interpret and participate with DE and asset management subject matter experts.


  • Bachelor (or higher) qualification in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline (mandatory)
  • A project management background is highly desirable
