About the Team

The Transport Services Division is responsible for operational coordination across the transport portfolio, including strategic management of disruption impacts and establishing a single point of user enquiry. It does this by collaborating across the department and transport agencies, applying user insights and utilising virtual teams.

About the Opportunity

The Lead Digital Experience Designer will play an integral role in collaborating and bringing together the needs of both the business and our customers to deliver industry leading experiences for the VicTraffic digital channel. This role is the ultimate champion of the customer to ensure we deliver an exceptional emergency response as well as day-to-day transport experience to all Victorians and visitors to Victoria. This is a hands-on lead design role for an experienced UX and Product Designer. You will work in a dedicated large project squad, with responsibility for conducting research with users, and working with a UI Designer to create beautifully considered and designed artefacts, including Information Architecture, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes.

About You

  • Proven experience with an exceptional portfolio showcasing innovative and meaningful human centred design solutions for digital experiences.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to be a ‘storyteller', bringing teams and executive stakeholders on the journey.
  • Ability to influence senior audiences, showing strategic thinking to support design decisions and rationale.
  • Well-developed research, conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to identify emerging issues, trends and risks, and the expertise to resolve complex operational and sensitive stakeholder problems.
  • A mastery of human-centred design, with hands on experience planning and conducting user research and testing.
  • Familiarity with various research and mapping techniques to capture and design the user experience.
