About the Team

The Transport Services Division is responsible for operational coordination across the transport portfolio, including strategic management of disruption impacts and establishing a single point of user enquiry. It does this by collaborating across the department and transport agencies, applying user insights and utilising virtual teams.

About the Opportunity

The Lead Digital Product Owner will be responsible for developing the roadmap and leading the end-to-end management of DoT's digital traffic and emergency response channel – VicTraffic. They will lead an Agile squad to reform and improve this digital channel, ensuring that it both meets the needs of the business, and provides a best-in-class experience for our customers. The Lead Digital Product Owner will be an expert collaborator that will quickly establish a broad network of stakeholders from across the organisation and our operators to understand pain points and opportunities. From this they will develop a clear, challenging and motivational vision and roadmap that will be used to gain executive level support and align stakeholders.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience driving product strategy, product roadmaps and backlogs to successfully deliver transport products and services through digital solutions.
  • Expert understanding of digital customer experience, best practice usability, digital content, device and interface conventions, and web standards including accessibility.
  • Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills with the ability to display good judgement, creativity and innovation in a fast-paced environment to deliver best-in-class digital customer experiences.
  • Skilled analytical thinker who can gather data, break problems down into their parts and propose solutions with a proven track record of delivering on time and on budget.
  • Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, managing conflicting priorities whilst maintaining attention to detail and the flexibility to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.


  • Tertiary degree in a relevant field
  • 7+ years' experience working as a product owner in a digital environment
  • Demonstrated skill in prioritising features in an agile environment
  • Experience generating agile aligned product roadmaps
  • Strategic mindset and ability to communicate vision
  • Experience designing for cross-platform services in an agile environment
