Cabinet Services Officer
• Annual Salary Range: $90,067 - $102,192 per annum plus super
• Employment Type: Fixed Term
• Usual Work Location: Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)
About the Role
The Cabinet Services Officer is responsible for coordinating the department's Cabinet business. the role is also also responsible for providing specialist advice to the Ministers' offices, the Secretary, Executives and senior staff on Cabinet processes and protocols. Key outcomes include.
- Provide support for the department's Cabinet, Cabinet Committees and legislative processes, including coordinating and preparing documents and maintaining sound records management of confidential and sensitive material.
- Liaise with and provide high quality advice to senior departmental staff, Minister's offices, other Victorian Government Departments and particularly the central agencies of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Department of Treasury and Finance on all DoT related Cabinet and Cabinet Committee matters.
- Ensure the department's Cabinet in Confidence (CIC) material is of a high quality and meets internal and DPC compliance requirements in regard to timeframes and format.
- Build and maintain effective relationships for gathering and disseminating information within DoT, Cabinet Secretariat, the Ministers' Offices and other government departments.
- Assist with the training and development of Cabinet Services staff in the full range of tasks undertaken by the unit and deliver training sessions to DoT staff on process matters.
- Continually update and improve internal processes that enhance capacity to deliver an effective and efficient service.
- Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

- Experience and demonstrated knowledge in Government processes and systems, and Cabinet or similar support services.
- Excellent organisational skills with a strong ability to work effectively within a team to determine priorities with tight and conflicting deadlines.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills (including an eye for detail), ability to present, persuade, advocate, negotiate and prepare reports, coordination comments and portfoliobriefs on complex issues.
- Proven ability to work under pressure while dealing with confidential and sensitive issues with a high level of tact, discretion and judgement.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective networks and strong working relationships across the department, Ministers' offices and other government departments.
Desired Experience
- Good understanding of polices and issues in the DoT portfolio, as well as the Government's overall policy objectives.
- Ability to provide high level advice on procedures and requirements in relation to Cabinet and Ministerial matters.
