Position Details

About the Role

The Data Modeller sits within the Mobility and Insights division and is responsible for the management of data and information assets in the Department of Transport, including the definition of each data and information entity and the ongoing management and maintenance of the DoT Business Information Taxonomy.

Key selection Criteria

Working on continuous improvement initiatives in terms of reporting, analysis, and day-to-day processes to align them with the company's strategic business objectives.

Liaising with various stakeholders across different business units to gain in-depth understanding so that accurate documentation of the data model is achieved showing how the business operates. To also enable the foundations of all enterprise integrations initiatives, such as Data Warehouse, Master Data Management and operational requirements are met.

Ability to engage and work with the team including Data Architects' and Engineers to gain the necessary knowledge to deliver a Business Data Model that will be the foundation of all solutions.

Ability to use best practice data modelling techniques & business information taxonomy. Ensure that the business has the Data Model Validation and Evolution they need to make adjustments and improvements.

An innovative outcomes mindset, future focused critical thinker, and ability to work flexibly with a customer focused agenda.

The ideal candidate will possess

  • Well-developed business acumen that will enable the Data Modeller to build a rapport across all levels of the organisation, expertise in documentation to a varied audience and facilitate meetings.
  • Ability to consult with the business stakeholders as the primary advisor for business processes to document and map how business is done, and model how business is done.
  • An open and honest communication style.
  • Tertiary qualification in information systems and/or equivalent with demonstrated experience in managing complex datasets.
  • Experience working with agile product teams & Data Modelling.
  • Ability to understand and interpret the existing guidelines.
  • Tertiary qualifications in information systems and demonstrated experience relevant to the requirements of the role.
  • Previous experience in managing complex data sets guided by set standards.
