Position Details

About the Role

The Senior Program Coordinator coordinates Victoria's major road safety infrastructure initiatives including state and Commonwealth investments. This role applies program management capabilities to lead the planning and development of programs with regions, councils, and other delivery stakeholders. Current major investment programs include Safer Roads ($1.7b), Commonwealth Road Safety Program ($690m) and Federal Blackspot ($26m per annum) and Motorcycle Safety Levy ($7m per annum). The role requires specialised skills in safe system engineering, program management and delivery, stakeholder management, quality assurance and governance.

Key selection Criteria

Translates strategies into programs or projects that enables achievement of outcomes require; Defines governance (e.g. success measures, roles and responsibilities, progress monitoring) required to manage risks and maximise probability of success.

Uses understanding of clients or stakeholders' context to design and implement systems for continuous improvement within team or organisation; Reviews and analyses internal and external information to improve effectiveness and quality of work.

Defines and maximises value add and/ or return of investment in business cases, contract terms, or service delivery agreements. Uses broad understanding of procurement and finance concepts to inform expenditure decisions and manage risks.

Identifies and manages a range of complex and often competing needs; Facilitates innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.

Is future oriented in analysis, thought and action; Actively seeks out new technology to enhance team systems, processes and service delivery. Undertakes planning to ensure the organisation is future ready through managing change.

The ideal candidate will possess

A flexible and adaptable approach to find new ways to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Excellent stakeholder management to influence and guide new strategies in areas that need improvements.
Experience in establishing mechanisms to monitor the impact of work on the community.
Ability to Build a culture of collaboration across the organisation; Looks for and facilitates opportunities to collaborate with external stakeholders; Identifies and overcomes barriers to communication with internal and external stakeholders
Experience in policy development and program/project management in the road safety, public sector policy or public health areas.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
A tertiary qualification in a engineering, or strong experience in policy related road safety fields will be highly regarded.
