The metro train contracts management team provides contract, commercial and governance advice and oversight of the train contracts operating on the metropolitan rail network. The team provides a single user interface to the metropolitan rail network and transport operators.

The Senior Commercial Advisor – Train Franchise sits within Rail Services and will lead the engineering analysis and interpretation of train performance and reliability data, as well as the determination of fleet performance against contract KPI's. The role will support reliability growth running of the High Capacity Metro Train (HCMT) fleet as well as be accountable for providing specialist advice regarding rolling stock faults and failure modes, including identifying root cause field issues, and correlations between fleet performance and both manufacturing data and driver behaviour. 

About You

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, business, project management or law.
  • Extensive experience working in a light/heavy rail environment.
  • Strategic Planning Skills – Coaches others and engages key stakeholders in strategic planning process. Thinks at the whole of system level and undertakes internal and external scanning, considering wide-ranging possibilities in developing a vision for the future; Translates strategic direction into team and individual plans and daily activities for self and others.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills – Takes into account wider business context within business unit when considering options to resolve issues. Identifies recurring problems and prevents future recurrence by integrating solutions into work process. Delivers tangible business outcomes as a result of critically evaluating problems from multiple perspectives and delivering effective solutions.
