Do you have experience in dispute resolution or hold a mediation qualification? Are you currently studying law or have an interest in Court and Tribunal environments? Do you have an interest in complex problems solving and assisting people to seek appropriate resolution to their problems?

The Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria (DSCV) has an exciting opportunity for a Dispute Resolution Practitioner (DRP) to join our team within a newly established partnership with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). DSCV have designed and deliver the Fast Track Mediation and Hearing program (FTMH), providing dispute resolution services to matters listed on VCAT's Civil List. The program will expand over four-years and extend across regional Victoria and a gradual increase in the monetary limit up to $15,000.

About us

Established in 1987 the DSCV, offer state-wide dispute resolution services for both community and civil disputes. DSCV's purpose is to empower and assist the Victorian community to prevent and appropriately resolve issues, alleviate pressure on the judicial system and help the community to thrive. We provide a front line resolution service which includes providing information and education to help people understand their rights and responsibilities regarding the nature of the dispute, conflict coaching to assist parties to resolve disputes themselves and assisted settlements. We also provide dispute resolution training such as conflict resolution skills and dispute resolution training to national accredited standards. We are a dynamic, innovative and positive team with a focus on staff development and service excellence.

The role

Working within the FTMH Program you will conduct and deliver exemplar mediation services to parties in dispute, either on site at Court, Tribunal or based at one of our metropolitan or regional locations. DRP's deliver a variety of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services across Victoria, including in room and telephone mediation, they also provide information, support, and assist client settlements. They are responsible for end to end file management; conducting intake with parties, entering case information in a case management system and support the listing the matter for the most appropriate alternative dispute resolution service for the matter.

What you need

You need to hold National Accreditation as a mediation or have undertaken similar training and have industry experience. A legal qualification or studying in this discipline and/or experience working within a Court or Tribunal environment highly desirable. You are committed to proving a high level of client service, able to multi-task, interpret complex information, respond to questions and provide information.  You are able to operate with a degree of independence, maturity and initiative and be committed to the Department core values.
